The Cabinet chaired, Chief 'Minister Raman Singh' approved the
proposal to distribute free Smartphones under the scheme called 'Sankrant Kranti Yojana' (SKY).
In this Yojana, the Chhattisgarh Government distribute the
55 Lakh Smartphones in the state.
The Smartphone will be distributed to the rural areas and to
the below poverty line (BPL) families in urban areas in two phases.
In the first phase, Smartphones will be distributed in
villages in more than 1,000 population of BPL families and college students in
urban areas.
Some 50.8 lakh handsets would be distributed in the first
phase in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Another 4.8 million smartphones will be distributed in those
villages with less than 1,000 population, and lack of mobile network coverage.
This scheme will benefit Students that studying in universities. Under Chhattisgarh this scheme, students will get a free smartphone with a SIM card. This is a great step by Raman Singh government to move towards Digital India.

Sanchar Kranti Yojana (SKY)
Chhattisgarh Government has allotted Rs. 900 crore to supply
Smartphone and free sim card and 1500 new network tower under KSY Scheme. The
Chief Minister said that under the 'Sanchar Kranti Yojana' to offer Chhattisgarh
e-services access in the state, 45 lakh smartphones will be provided to BPL
families in the state. Under this scheme, students will get a free smartphone
with a SIM card. Chhattisgarh government has allotted 900 crore rupees to
complete this scheme.
