Home Minister Rajnath Singh started the Digital PolicePortal, a digital police portal under CCTNS project, aimed at creating a
national database of crimes and criminals, was started by Home Minister Rajnath
Singh today. Singh said that digital police portal will provide citizens,
facility for online complaint registration and request for antecedent
verification.
"The Police Portal will provide 11 searches and 46
reports from the National Database for State Police and Central Investigation
Agencies. After launching the portal, he said that central police and digital
agencies have also been given access to the digital police database for crime
investigation.
The Home Minister said that Crime and Criminal Tracking
Network and System Project (CCTNS) have enabled 13,775 out of 15,398 police
stations, which is capable of recording 100 percent of the data in the
software. He said that as of now, the National Database of CCTN has 7 crore data
records related to past and present criminal cases. Singh said that the CCTNS
project will help in realizing the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's
'Minimum Government Maximum Governance'.
